Description
The M1913 bayonet was one of only a few bayonet types to utilize checkered wood grips. The scabbard is leather with steel mounts. This rare sword bayonet was for use on the 7 mm. Mauser M1916 Short Rifle and also designated for use with the 8 mm. Mauser M1943 Short Rifle. It was adopted in 1913 as the “Machete Bayoneta”. Marking are well worn and rifle mount shows a minimal amount of play which is normal for this design. The top steel mount has separated from the leather scabbard. Leather is moderately soft and is still pliable. Dimensions are 21.5 inches in length in scabbard. A rare and wonderful piece of military history!
